Both the Radnor Ultimate Frisbee boys and girls Varsity teams won the 2018 PA States Ultimate tournament this past weekend.
This is the 3rd PA States Championship for the Boys team and 2nd for the Girls team since Radnor Ultimate Frisbee was formed in 2007. This is the first time both teams won the championship simultaneously.
The Boys were seeded #7, beat #1 Pennsbury (Ranked #17 nationally) in quarter-finals, #5 Haverford in semi-finals and then #2 North Allegheny (Ranked #16 nationally) to win the championship. When the national ranking is calculated again in a few weeks, we expect Radnor 2017-18 team to be in the top 25 national ranking again. Last year the 2016-17 team ranked 21st. https://ultiworld.com/youth-rankings/
The girls were seeded #3, beat #1 Lower Merion in the finals to win their championship.
And also for the first time, the Boys Varsity team is back to back champions for 2017 and 2018.

PHILADELPHIA >> A swirling wind was toying with the punt returners, with one exception, last Friday. Eagles rookie hopeful Tim Wilson shifted into gear while plucking balls out of the air, just as he’d done at East Stroudsburg University and Radnor High School. Wilson (5-9, 170) was a man for all seasons at Radnor, the 2012 graduate collecting more than 2,000 all-purpose yards with the football team, starring as a sprinter on the track and playing the point for the basketball team.
At East Stroudsburg, Wilson caught 133 balls for 2,042 yards (15.4 average) and 16 touchdowns to rank 11th in receptions and 13th in yards in the all-time school album. The Eagles found Wilson at a pro day at Temple, where a coach told him he clocked 4.42 in the 40-yard dash. There also were 17 bench presses at 225 pounds, a conversation and on Monday, a contract. The process began four weeks ago, Wilson sensing his quickness and special teams ability might be enough to earn him a chance to play some more days.
“It was about a month ago,” Wilson said. “They gave me a call after that and I got the invite. I want to show them my speed and my versatility. I play special teams, kick return, punt return. I’ll be on kickoff and kick return. I just want to fight for a spot.”
Radnor alumnus Tim Wilson participates in an Eagles rookie camp Friday at the NovaCare Complex. The former East Stroudsburg wide receiver hopes he can use his speed to make a mark on special teams.
