The senior defensive center mid and tri-captain has been an all-around standout for the Raptors field hockey team, which finished second in the PIAA District 1 2A tournament, then earned a milestone victory in its PIAA 2A state tournament opener Nov. 7. A versatile field hockey performer, Buono had previously played wing. Radnor field hockey head coach Gretta Ehret said, “Grayson is the heart and soul of this team. She is an incredible leader and a physically dominant athlete.” Buono’s mother JoAnn played field hockey for Villanova University (graduated in 1995). Grayson Buono received All-Main Line lacrosse honors last spring, and has committed to the University of Delaware, where she will play lacrosse (and possibly field hockey). Off the field at Radnor, Buono is a student leader for the Radnor “SpeakUp!” Club, a Peer Mentor for incoming freshmen and a Radnor Ambassador for new high school students.

Person you most admire, and why: “The two people I most admire are my brother Roman and my Dad, Michael. I’ve admired how my Dad will look to help others as a mentor/leader and has helped me in my role as a captain. My older brother Roman has also been a great role model, especially in my high school years as he always leads by example on and off the field. Last year he captained his high school team and he’s shared a lot of good advice that I’m using in field hockey and lacrosse.

Family members: parents Michael and JoAnn, older brothers Pup  (Penn State lacrosse ‘25) and Roman (Yale lacrosse ’27), younger brother Angus  (Malvern Prep Class of 2027).
