Radnor – The funeral mass at the jam-packed Villanova University main chapel was an emotional one, as a standing-room-only crowd of more than 700 people paid tribute to former Radnor lacrosse coach George Corrigan Feb. 28.
Corrigan, who earned All-American honors while playing lacrosse for the University of Maryland in the 1950s, and was an assistant lacrosse coach at Radnor High School since 1999, touched many people’s lives – on and off the lacrosse field.
His oldest son, George (nicknamed “GT”), a former assistant coach of the Philadelphia Wings, said, “My Dad had the most positive attitude and outlook on life of anyone I have ever known. Every person he knew was either a ‘great guy’ or ‘one of the all-time greats.’ A few days before he died, I was sitting with [my sister] Kelly at Bryn Mawr Hospital and I asked him how he was feeling and he immediately said ‘Great!’ and he smiled at us.
